Today I listened to the debut album by Aitch ‘Close to Home’ which as entered the UK album chart at number 2.

You know what is number 1? The Ultimate Collection by Steps! Not only a greatest hits album doing better than your debut album? But a Steps greatest album! A horrible situation for Aitch.

Aitch is a rapper from Manchester and is called ‘Aitch’ because that’s how he pronounces his ‘h’s. And I’m ok with that. He is 22 years old and I bet he gets ID’d for 12-rated films.

I have nothing against his rapping style, or the music of this album. I’m sort of like it but dude, if you need to talk about how good you are at sex and the size of your penis this much, I think you’ve got a problem. And women, if he is really using any of the lines he states he is as pick-up lines, find anyone else.

There is a beautiful song on this album dedicated to a younger sister who has Downs Syndrome. It is a shame that with Aitch’s emotions evident through his delivery it has vocals by Ed Sheeran which The Guardian describes as ‘Ed Sheeran at his most nondescript’. Honestly, Aitch says he’s crying in the booth and Ed was half asleep when he recorded his bits.

I suppose there is potential for Aitch. Most of the songs are stupid boasting (and probably lies) but a couple are meaningful.
